Nex - Serangoon New Shopping Mall

Just went to Nex last Sat, very crowded thou not all shops are open and they have not start any publicity yet. Hope the crowd will last cos I just rented a box from the box shop at Nex

Anybody staying around that area? Any comments on the "potential" of this mall?

Hi, there is a new boxshop call "Ministry of Cube" at Nex level 4. They are opening on 1st Dec, can check out their website here

Hi, a boxshop is a retail shop that rents out small box or shelf space to small entrepreneurs to sell their products. It gives small players like us an opportunity to sell our products in a physical store at low cost as we will not be able to afford high rent of shops at shopping mall. This is good for new start-ups and suitable to sell small items that doesn't require a lot of space.

The rent of a box ranges from $100+ to $300+, depending on which boxshop and location of the box (eye level is usually more expensive). Rental can be upfront payment or monthly payment, contract period is usually 3mths/6mths/12 mths. Besides rental, the boxshop will take a commission (usually 10-15%) of the sales to cover staff costs, packaging etc.

There are a few boxshops in Singapore, those I know are Cactus (Marina Square & Orchard Central), Sunflower (City Square Mall) and the latest one is Ministry of Cube at Nex.

dropped by to check on Cactus (Marina Square & Orchard Central) and Ministry of Cube at Nex and i thought the traffic at Nex is so much better than Cactus at Orchard Central...

why is it like that?

May be becos Nex is still the newer mall and also there are plenty of good food, and I suppose it is a sub-urban mall so it will attract the residential crowds even on a week day. Marina square probably more crowded when you get the lunch time office crowd the weekend crowd whereas Orchard Central more tourist crowd? and weekend crowd (i hope ).
